The ETC Nutrition Group is still active and collaborating in food and nutrition security activities world-wide, covering the food – health – nutrition nexus with our expertise.
While the ETC Foundation ceased to exist in 2018 the nutrition group is still active. Joanne Harnmeijer, Bert Lof, and Arine Valstar are still working in food and nutrition security activities world-wide, covering the food – health – nutrition nexus with their expertise as Public Health Doctor, Agronomic Engineer and Nutritionist respectively. They are often collaborating in large complex evaluations or in technical assistance programmes (nutrition sensitive and specific programmes, including costing) and are at other times also involved as independent experts.
Joanne Harnmeijer & Arine Valstar
Arine Valstar is a nutritionist and social anthropologist who started her international career in nutrition at FAO and is therefore experienced in nutrition sensitive agriculture. She prefers people centered participatory approaches, in which gender, inclusiveness and the sustainable food systems approach are applied to achieve impact in nutrition while reducing a negative impact on the planet.
Joanne Harnmeijer is a public health expert with a multi-sectoral track record in evaluation, including evaluation of nutrition programmes and their linkages with food systems. Joanne spent most of her working life in Africa and Asia, both as a physician and as a M&E expert. She recently retired, but is still interested to engage in new developments in the nutrition sector and its ramifications.
