Amref Health Africa
Amref Health Africa – formerly Amref Flying Doctors – is the largest African health organisation. They work towards a healthy Africa: structurally and from the local community. From their head office in Nairobi and offices elsewhere in Africa, they train healthcare providers, offer basic care, ensure clean drinking water and provide information. They reach 30 million people in 35 countries annually. They also speak with African governments to sustainably anchor improvements in healthcare.
Where they once mainly helped from the air, the focus is now on reaching as many people as possible via the ground. Under their new name, Amref Health Africa, they are committed to structural improvements: training African healthcare providers, providing basic care, ensuring clean drinking water and providing information. With special attention to girls and young women.
Amref Health Africa receives support from the Dutch government, the National Postcode Lottery and more than 100,000 donors, including private donors, companies and foundations. Amref is designated as ANBI, has CBF recognition and is ISO certified.
